The win snapped a four-game losing streak and put Memphis (5-5, 3-4 AAC) one win away from qualifying for its ninth consecutive bowl game.

Hey, look. The Memphis Tigers won a game! The Tigers finally got the breaks they needed Thursday as they defeated Tulsa, 26-10.

The Tigers are preparing face a Golden Hurricane rushing defense that is the fourth-worst in the country out of 131 FBS teams.

AAC announces Memphis football conference opponents through 2026

The Tigers will play UAB every year through 2026. The full list of nonconference and conference opponents are set for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. 

Rogers became the first Black athlete to join the Memphis football team when he walked on during the spring of 1968 and earned a scholarship during the spring of 1969.

Bryce Huff forced a fumble by sacking Bills quarterback Josh Allen that helped seal the 20-17 victory for the New York Jets over Buffalo. 

“It does me no good to sit here and say would have, could have, should have and I don’t allow our players to do it,” Silverfield said. “We don’t make excuses. We go out there and charge away.”

An eight-win season seemed more probable when the Tigers were looking at a 4-1 record with seven games remaining. Now the Tigers need to win at least two of the last three just to reach a bowl game. 

The Daily Memphian photographer Patrick Lantrip captured some of the Tigers’ best plays as well as fans’ frustration Saturday at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium. 

The Tigers are 4-1 when the tight end scores at least one touchdown, and he’s become arguably the team’s most important offensive player beside quarterback Seth Henigan.

Only two teams have scored more than 20 points against the Knights this year, but the Tigers haven’t scored less than 23 all season. 

The defense is going to have its hands full against a physical UCF team that averages the eighth-most rushing yards in the country at more than 244 rushing yards per game.

The Tigers haven’t lost a homecoming game since 2016 and hope to keep that streak going against UCF. 

Tony Pollard had a career day and became the first Cowboys running back to score three rushing touchdowns in a game since 2015. 

The Tigers are hoping to snap a three-game losing streak against a UCF team that will be coming to Memphis with a lot of confidence.

Now that Memphis is eight weeks into the season, here is a look at where it stands in certain categories within the American Athletic Conference.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel mentioned Memphis in a podcast about the coaching future of Deion Sanders. Could Coach Prime be coming to Memphis? It’s certainly worth a call. 

Coach Ryan Silverfield said he isn’t “oblivious” to the disappointment about the team’s three-game losing streak, but he challenged his guys to stay dialed in.

While the Tigers use this week to reset for the final four-game stretch of the season, other AAC teams will be competing this weekend. Memphis is tied for the sixth-best conference record in the league.

Memphis is trying to stop the bleeding that is currently a three-game losing streak after blowing double-digit leads in two of those games.
