The voters have spoken. And they have chosen Jamarion Chapman and Curnesha Taylor as the Fans' Choice High School Basketball Players of the Week.

Chapman, a sophomore guard at Christian Brothers High, won 53% of the total vote for his performance in a pair of recent victories.

Second-place went to Bartlett sophomore standout D.J. Okoth. Rounding out this week’s field were Fred Smith of Briarcrest, Carson Crump of St. George’s and Kevion Robertson of City University.

Taylor won 45% of the vote after averaging 21.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in victories against Briarcrest and Kirby.

Harding’s Bella Rose Austin was second, followed by Collierville’s Fran Kelly, Caidyn Sanders of Houston and Whitehaven’s La’Niyah Moore.

Our Pick: Chapman, Taylor win OrthoSouth Grizzlies POW

This year, The Daily Memphian staff is also picking its own players of the week, and our staff agrees with the voters. Chapman and Taylor are also the OrthoSouth Grizzlies Players of the Week.

Chapman, a transfer from Memphis University School, had 16 points in a 51-38 win against PURE Academy on Nov. 28 before following up the next day with 22 points, five rebounds and four assists as the Brothers downed Humboldt, 65-49.

Taylor has starred for five years at Memphis Business Academy and led the team to its first-ever state tournament last season.

A new round of fan voting begins Monday.
