Germantown plans for water distribution through Sunday
Although Germantown has not said when water will be restored to a majority of the suburb, plans are in place to distribute water through the weekend.
This comes after a diesel leak into an underground reservoir at the suburb’s Southern Avenue water plant. Although 40% of the system has been flushed, it’s unclear when water may be restored.
There are two locations to pickup water: one in Germantown and one in Collierville.
At Forest Hill Elementary School (3368 Forest Hill-Irene Road), one case of bottled water per car will be distributed from 4 until 7 p.m. daily through Friday, on Saturday, from 9 a.m. until noon and on Sunday from 1 until 4 p.m.
At Bailey Station Elementary School (3435 Bailey Station Road) in Collierville, residents can bring their own containers and get an unlimited supply of water from 4 to 7 p.m. each day through Friday.
The sites are now accepting volunteers. Those interested in volunteering can sign up online.
