Arlington narrowly approves tax increase

The long budget season closed with a little wackiness in Arlington before settling on a final property tax rate.
In a special-called meeting on Monday, June 23, the town’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen narrowly approved the town’s $93.1 million operating budget for the next fiscal year by a 4-3 vote. But things got confusing when the board initially voted down the $1.13 property tax on which the budget was based.
