With Bartlett property values rising dramatically after this year’s reappraisal, officials are grappling with keeping the tax rate as low as possible while maintaining city services and retaining talent.
The Bartlett Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Tuesday, May 6, held a special work session to discuss next year’s $221 million operating budget and property tax rate. The proposal represents a $21 million increase over the current budget.
Mayor David Parsons’ administration is proposing a tax rate of $1.66, seven cents under the current rate of $1.73 but nearly 35 cents over the new certified rate of $1.3128 approved by the State of Tennessee.
