Stan Joyner’s decisions made Collierville ‘absolutely what it is today’

When Mayor Stan Joyner grew up in Collierville, no one planned to remain in the suburb long-term.
Most young people were looking to leave the small town on the southeastern edge of Shelby County. In those days, there were few reasons to stay in Collierville. Opportunities were elsewhere.
That has changed. Collierville is a destination for suburban families. Growing commercial, a sought-after school system and housing are a lure to the town.
