Collierville seeks new aldermen

By , Daily Memphian Updated: December 12, 2024 4:00 AM CT | Published: December 12, 2024 4:00 AM CT

While the Tuesday runoff resulted in Nick Robbins taking a Collierville alderman seat, there are still two pending vacancies on the town’s legislative body that leaders must fill.

There’s a separate process for filling the openings, necessary because of the town’s resign-to-run rule, and members of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen have some characteristics they value for replacements.

Alderman Billy Patton and Mayor-elect Maureen Fraser were required to step down from their positions to seek the mayoral seat. Their resignations were irreversible and effective at the oath of office scheduled for Dec. 18. Although no meetings are scheduled, that’s the date Patton officially rolls off the board, and Fraser will transition to her mayoral responsibilities.
