From Diet Coke to the rock band Styx, getting to know Maureen Fraser

By , Daily Memphian Published: January 13, 2025 4:00 AM CT

Collierville Mayor Maureen Fraser assumed her duties less than four weeks ago, but Monday night she will chair her first Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting in the suburb’s top-elected position.

It’s not the first meeting she’s led inside the Town Hall council chambers. Fraser served 18 consecutive years as the suburb’s vice mayor. She would lead the meetings in the rare case the suburb’s former mayor, Stan Joyner, was absent.

Joyner has been a fixture at the center of the dais, but now it’s Fraser’s turn, for at least the next four years. Ahead of her first meeting, there are some lesser-known things about her.
