Bailey: Sign accusations harken back to a Collierville matter 10 years ago

Clay Bailey, a lifelong Memphian, has worked as a reporter in the city four decades. He concentrated on suburban coverage for the bulk of his career, except for a stint as sports editor of The Daily Memphian when it launched in September 2018. Accusations of campaign sign thievery during election season are pretty much a staple of running for office.
For decades, candidates have contacted me to complain about an opponent taking up their signs.
Or tearing up their signs.
Or defacing their signs.
And my response in many cases was that such destruction is the cost of running for office.
