The Collierville Board of Education will consider its rezoning proposal next month. If approved, the changes would take place in August 2024.

Collierville Schools released a proposed map for rezoning at the elementary levels to better address capacity issues at existing schools. Rezoning is expected ahead of the 2024-25 academic year.

Rep. Kevin Vaughan, R-Collierville, was the featured speaker at Collierville Chamber of Commerce’s monthly membership luncheon.

“With this group of mayors, I’ve never been more optimistic about our metro area,” said Shelby County Chamber Alliance and Bank of Bartlett President Harold Byrd.

Byhalia Commons has been discussed for 13 years, but the plan has been heavily revised and developers seem ready to move forward.

Condominiums could be headed to downtown Collierville. Additionally, the Planning Commission endorsed pickleball courts at a local fitness center.

Collierville officials approved an $8.8 million agreement to change the suburb’s streetlights. 

The six-year payment-in-lieu-of-taxes incentive, approved Monday night, Oct. 23, comes as Campbell Clinic officials look to build a facility at the northwest corner of Bailey Station Road and Poplar Avenue.

Collierville’s Industrial Development Board approved Campbell Clinic’s retention tax incentive. The suburb’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen must approve payment in lieu of taxes.

Collierville named its interim superintendent Tuesday. He will serve upon Gary Lilly’s departure until the end of the academic year.

Jaime Groce, Collierville’s town planner, called The Parke at Houston Levee development “the first true mixed-use center apart from Town Square.”

Carriage Crossing owners are showcasing potential new tenants Saturday as part if its “Pop Local” contest.

It’s the first time in Collierville Schools history for one of its schools to receive the honor.

As part of the payment-in-lieu of taxes application, Campbell Clinic plans to retain 48 jobs and add 22 new jobs. Those positions have a $53,000 annual median wage, but an average wage of $112,732.

“The Collierville Balloon Festival is important for the entire Mid-South community,” said festival president Susan Ewing. “It is a great event to help with the economic impact in Collierville as well as the entire Mid-South.” 

Both victims in a weekend homicide in Collierville were separated from their spouses at the time of the incident.

Collierville leaders consider allowing Collierville Arts Council to sell beer and wine at The Harrell Performing Arts Theatre productions. “I think this would completely change the arts experience at the Harrell Theatre,” said the council chairman.

A suspect was arrested in Texas after a homicide in Collierville on Saturday.
