Germantown businesses have six months to align their short-term parking spaces and related signage with the suburb’s new rules.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen unanimously approved the ordinance on the third required reading Monday evening, July 22, after months of discussion about the issue.
While short-term parking spaces were present at businesses before the COVID-19 pandemic, they became more popular due to contactless shopping and dining options.
“This ordinance is meant to continue to allow that method of shopping in our community,” Alderwoman Sherrie Hicks said. “... It truly allows a new way of shopping but keeps the signature look of Germantown.”
