Voters could decide if Germantown gets full-time mayor

Germantown Alderman Jon McCreery has revived the idea of the suburb having a full-time mayor and voters could decide whether the suburb makes the change from the part-time elected leader.

McCreery, who has championed the full-time approach since late 2022, presented the idea again Monday night during a Board of Mayor and Aldermen vision session.

“I’ve been on the horse for two years about it,” he said.

McCreery notes the change is needed for long-term success in a city the size of Germantown. While Mayor Mike Palazzol and Alderwoman Mary Anne Gibson support such a move, Alderwoman Sherrie Hicks and aldermen Scott Sanders and Brian Ueleke expressed some hesitation.
