Man arrested for sexual solicitation of minors at Germantown park

A Germantown resident has been arrested for sexual solicitation of minors in one of the suburb’s parks.
Police began investigating the case last week and arrested 38-year-old John T. Appling, a Germantown resident. He faces two counts of solicitation of a minor, specifically rape. Additional charges include two counts of solicitation of a minor to observe sexual conduct.
Police responded to Howard McVay Park — named for its placement near the two roads — on Wednesday, July 30. A complaint was made about a man approaching children and requesting sexual acts.
