Lakeland approves final reading of fiscal budget and tax rate

Lakeland will again have the lowest property-tax rate of any Shelby County municipality for the next fiscal year.
On Tuesday, June 18, the city’s Board of Commissioners approved a second and final reading of an ordinance to adopt a $92.6 million annual budget with an accompanying $1.19 property tax rate for the fiscal year beginning July 1.
The total budget amount represents a $14.2 million increase compared to fiscal year 2023-24.
