Two months after the foreclosure sale of The Lake District mixed-use project in Lakeland, development work on the site near the Canada Road exit of Interstate 40 remains at a standstill.
There are some plans and consideration on what to do with the 160-acre development, but there also are some unfinished matters that have held up the work. Lakeland city officials, including City Manager Michael Walker, met in July with representatives from project owner TIG Romspen US Master Mortgage LP.
“They are still formulating their ultimate strategy with regard to the property and expressed an interest in either developing the property themselves and/or partnering with other developers for the future build out of the project,” Walker said.
