The past two years have been a busy time for Lakeland Mayor Josh Roman. Overseeing a city as its mayor tends to take a lot of attention.
Since taking office in late 2022, Roman has worked to clean up and redevelop a major gateway into the city, cultivated new partnerships with the YMCA and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and is moving on other initiatives.
Roman said he knows his time as mayor is limited. He cannot seek office again due to the city’s two-term limit on elected positions. In his case, that includes his previous four-year term as commissioner.
