Ice storm batters Mallard Pointe Golf Course, but Quail Ridge reopening still on track for Labor Day

Mallard Pointe Golf Course in Sardis, Mississippi, was hit hard by the ice storm this past week, but the operator says the rebuild will not impact the potential opening of Quail Ridge in Bartlett.
“It looks like war zone down here,” said golf course operator Chris Sparks, who estimates around 150 trees down at Mallard Pointe from the ice. He estimated the damage to the Sardis course between $100,000 and $150,000.
The damage from the ice storm comes as Sparks’ golf course management company is also looking to rehab and reopen the Quail Ridge Golf Course at 4055 Altruria Road in Bartlett. Sparks grew up in Bartlett, and his mother lives off the 10th hole at Quail Ridge.
