Fred Jones (left) hugs a friend prior to a press conference held to unveil the naming of Fred Jones Way near the Liberty Bowl stadium in 2018. “Some things are just a natural,” he said Wednesday. “Tennessee State (and) Jackson State in Memphis is a natural.” (Houston Cofield/Daily Memphian file)
Jones said the formula to continue the event is intact despite Jackson State pulling out. Tennessee State calls JSU’s move an “insensitive and irresponsible act.”
