Former Bartlett mayor pushes back against comments by alderman

Former Bartlett Mayor A. Keith McDonald isn’t fond of Alderman Kevin Quinn’s characterization of the suburb’s financial status under the McDonald administration.

When asked recently why he decided to run for reelection this fall, Quinn said, “Bartlett was heading down a path towards financial difficulties when I first ran for alderman. I’ve worked hard in my first term to help move us in the right direction. Currently, we’re pointing towards a better path but still have many crucial decisions to make for the next several years.”

McDonald bristles at that assessment of the last couple of years of his 20-year run as the city’s mayor. And he says the characterization by Quinn is misguided.

Quinn says he hopes his comments about the previous administration did not come across as a criticism of McDonald. “I think he did the best he could with the information he had at the time. Things do change. ...”
