901 FC and El Paso battle to scoreless draw

Facing an El Paso team firmly rooted to the bottom of the United Soccer League Championship’s western conference standings, Memphis 901 FC had a reasonable expectation for success Saturday night at AutoZone Park.

Instead, frustration. The 0-0 draw wasn’t as bad as a loss obviously; Memphis (9-5-8) picked up its 32nd point of the season.

But it did have some of the same feelings of “what if” that often come with defeat.

“Obviously we came in looking for three points and we’re disappointed not to get them,” said head coach Stephen Glass. “We’ve got enough respect for the opponents that we know there’s no givens; it’s going to be difficult. It’s not surprising when teams come in and they’re difficult to break down.”
