In his senior year, Tigers safety Greg Rubin is finding his voice

Memphis defensive back Greg Rubin has had a similar college career to his teammate Seth Henigan.
Both players had an immediate impact after joining the Tigers as part of the 2021 recruiting class.
Henigan was named the starting quarterback while Rubin earned a starting cornerback spot. The two true freshmen from three years ago are now among the most seasoned veterans in the Memphis locker room heading into the 2024 season. They’re entering their senior years with Memphis being the American Athletic Conference preseason favorite for the first time in league history.
Memphis’ expectations for Henigan have been well documented, but defensive back coach Charles Clark also expects a special year out of Rubin.
“(He’s) a guy that commands the room,” Clark said. “A guy that communicates very well. I’m looking forward to a lot from him.”
Rubin wasn’t always a player who felt comfortable being a vocal leader. He laughed just thinking about how much of a veteran presence he has this year. Rubin deferred to former teammates Jacobi Francis, Quindell Johnson and others early in his career. Now, it’s his turn to assume that responsibility.
