Collierville to review Fire Dept. pay plan, tattoo policy

Hiring has been a challenge in Collierville Fire Department, and on Monday town leaders will consider a change in compensation to help attract employees.
The item on the Board of Mayor and Aldermen agenda is the result of a four-hour work session in July, where officials discussed the needs of the fire department.
“The pay plan lately has been the biggest issue,” Fire Chief John Selberg said by phone Tuesday. “Nowadays (potential hires) are looking at pay and time off.”
The pay increases range between 2% and 7% except for those in leadership. If approved, the pay will be retroactive to Aug. 1. The changes put Collierville in line with other area departments.
