Lakeland secures loan commitment for more I-40/Canada Road development

The City of Lakeland is finding ways to fund redevelopment of its Gateway Tax Increment Financing district just north of the Interstate 40 and Canada Road interchange.
During a special-called meeting Thursday, Aug. 22, the Lakeland Board of Commissioners approved a $6 million loan commitment letter with First South Financial for future development of the Gateway.
Before the special-called meeting, the Memphis suburb’s Industrial Development Board met for its regular monthly session and also approved the loan commitment.
