Germantown celebrates eastern water tower named for public works director

Germantown should never have to face a water crisis again, thanks to its new award-winning tower in the eastern portion of the suburb.
The new 500,000-gallon tower — in service about three weeks — has already won the inaugural Bob Frudenthal Utility Project of the Year award from the state chapter of the American Public Works Association. Additionally, the city officially named the structure the Bo Mills Water Tower, honoring the suburb’s public works director’s 40 years of service.
The announcement was made during Monday’s dedication of the tower near Forest Hill Elementary.
While the elevated tank has only recently begun pumping water to faucets throughout the suburb, the city has planned for the tower for 54 years, according to Mills.
