A new music venue operated by entertainment giant Live Nation is coming to the Crosstown neighborhood — and with it, seemingly more musicians and touring acts.
Crosstown Concourse and Live Nation announced plans for the 35,000-square-foot venue at 431 N. Claybrook St. on Friday, Nov. 22. The site is located across from the Crosstown Concourse parking garage.
“We are extremely excited about this new venue and collaborating with Live Nation is hugely important to helping make Memphis a regular tour stop, bringing artists and musicians to Memphis that would not have played here otherwise,” said Todd Richardson, president and CEO of Crosstown Concourse, in a statement.
The 1,300-capacity venue is expected to host about 100 events annually and employ up to 150 people, with a base salary of $20 per hour.
A joint Crosstown Concourse/Live Nation press release said the collaboration will give the new venue access to top touring artists as well as considerable expertise in operations and hospitality.
“The new venue will be a unique addition to the city and bring even more exciting shows to Memphis,” said Grant Lyman, president of Live Nation Southeast. “Thanks to Crosstown Concourse, we’re honored to be part of the community’s movement to invest in the future of live music while celebrating the rich music history of Memphis.”
Beverly Hills, California-based Live Nation Entertainment was created after the 2010 merger of Live Nation and Ticketmaster. It is the world’s leading live entertainment company.
Crosstown Theater, which is located at 1350 Concourse Ave., is a 417-seat black box theater. It has a capacity of 800 people standing.

Other Memphis event venues’ seating capacities are as follows:
- Mud Island Amphitheater - 5,000
- Orpheum Theatre - 2,300
- FedExForum - 19,000
- University of Memphis Michael D. Rose Theatre - 1,000
- Cannon Center for the Performing Arts - 2,000
A new commercial permit was filed with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development for the new Crosstown venue Wednesday, Nov. 20, by Grinder Taber Grinder. The release from Crosstown Concourse and Live Nation said construction will begin this winter.
In February of this year, the Memphis and Shelby County Land Use Control Board approved a proposal to change the 1.08-acre property from a surface lot to an indoor event center.
Richardson, who told The Daily Memphian in February the parking lot usually sits vacant, said the venue, designed by local architects archimania, will benefit from the concourse’s location, 1,130-space parking garage and variety of food and beverage options and amenities.
The new Crosstown venue is also expected to host comedy shows, community events, corporate meetings and special events.
