Collierville officials discuss future of Mount Trashmore

Collierville leaders are interested in purchasing a former landfill that is in financial trouble, and it’s possible their action could result in the return of sledding on beloved Mount Trashmore.
Town leaders discussed the matter during their retreat Wednesday, a daylong meeting at which they considered several initiatives but took no action.
The former landfill — south of Wolf River Boulevard, north of Frank Road and west of Bray Station Road — was operated by Norman Brown III, who died. Two parcels totaling more than 290 acres have about $168,000 in unpaid property taxes and are scheduled to be auctioned in April. The town has an interest in the northern 136 acres.
