Memphis Oral School expands footprint, looks to future goals

By , Daily Memphian Published: March 26, 2025 4:00 AM CT

Memphis Oral School for the Deaf is expanding its footprint in Germantown, allowing it to deepen roots in the suburb and expand services.

Last week, the school announced it is purchasing the Kingsway Christian Church’s property at 7887 Poplar Ave. next door to the hearing center.

Discussions about acquisition of the church property began in early 2024. Kingsway and MOSD had an agreement related to maintenance and upkeep, but it also gave the school first refusal if the church decided to sell. Last year, Andrea Baird, MOSD CEO, was told about Kingsway’s interest in doing just that.
