Last-minute updates move MSCS takeover proposals toward compromise

Two Tennessee lawmakers who have proposed different versions of a state takeover of Memphis-Shelby County Schools say that a compromise is on the way. 

Both Republicans, Rep. Mark White of Memphis and Sen. Brent Taylor of Eads, told The Daily Memphian that their views differ on what role a new governing board for the Memphis school system should play.
