Herrington: Reacting to nine notable end-of-season Grizzlies quotes
Chris Herrington
Chris Herrington has covered the Memphis Grizzlies, in one way or another, since the franchise’s second season in Memphis, while also writing about music, movies, food and civic life. As far as he knows, he’s the only member of the Professional Basketball Writers Association who is also a member of a film critics group and has also voted in national music critic polls for Rolling Stone and the Village Voice (RIP). He and his wife have two kids and, for reasons that sometimes elude him, three dogs.
The Memphis Grizzlies’ “exit interview” media session at FedExForum on Sunday was four hours of pretty much wall-to-wall talk, featuring lead executive Zach Kleiman, interim head coach Tuomas Iisalo and 10 of the roster’s 18 players.
In the immediate wake of the all-day session, I dove into what seemed to be the biggest and most dramatic issue at play: the uncertain future of the team’s long-time core trio of Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bane.
But so much was said about those players and lots more. Digging into the notebook, here are nine Grizzlies quotes of note from Sunday and what I make of them.
