As the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation works to close the former Shelton Road landfill once operated by the late Norman Brown, Collierville leaders rezoned it Monday evening.
The site is a famous sledding destination and is often called “Mount Trashmore” by residents. Town leaders voted for suburb-initiated rezoning, transforming the 295 acres from R-1 to forest agricultural zoning. This means lot sizes must be 5 acres, compared to the 15,000-square-foot lots required in the previous zoning.
