Despite Collierville party foul, leaders won’t limit residential gatherings

Collierville leaders do not plan to pursue an ordinance related to limiting residential parties after a gathering last Saturday resulted in several arrests and some upset neighbors.

The party at a home near Mayfield Road in southwest Collierville charged $60 for admission. Police were called to the scene, found cars blocking the roadway and heard some complaints about vehicles parked in neighbors’ yards. Eight people were arrested on a variety of drug and gun possession charges along with public intoxication.

Collierville officials dealt with a similar incident late last year at the same residence, leading to a discussion of an ordinance to better control such events.
