Can Memphis compete for American Conference title this season?

The American Conference, formally known as the American Athletic Conference, with host its media days this week with a revamped brand.
Changes included an altered name, a new wordmark and a new mascot. The AAC acronym, even though it was never official anyway, has been retired. The conference now prefers to be called the American for short.
