MATA officials overstepped authority with CEO search, City Council attorney says

A few days ago, Memphis Area Transit Authority officials posted on social media that they would introduce two finalists to become the next CEO of the troubled agency at a public meeting Wednesday, Aug. 27.

Earlier this week, that meeting was abruptly canceled with little explanation.

City officials said the search wasn’t being halted, but instead “extended in an effort to expand the candidate pool,” according to a statement provided to The Daily Memphian on Wednesday.
