With Shelby County Clerk Wanda Halbert still declining to pay Millington for use of a city building in the North Shelby County suburb despite an Oct. 17 deadline, Millington is wasting no time in exploring possible solutions.

And one of those solutions may come from the county. Commissioner Mick Wright has asked the county attorney to draft a resolution that might resolve the issue without litigation.

The possibilities emerged Friday afternoon as the deadline past for Halbert to pay for having a county clerk’s office in Millington. The two sides have exchanged statements about who is responsible for the payment. Millington says it is Halbert. Halbert says she wasn’t a party to any agreement regarding the matter, and she doesn’t intend to pay.
