Lakeland might have found a new city manager — and it’s an internal candidate

Lakeland may not have to look far for its next permanent city manager.

Emily Harrell was named the suburb’s interim city manager in November after serving as city engineer and chief utilities and infrastructure officer. At that time she said she was not interested in the permanent city manager role. With her declaration, the city planned to conduct a search for the position.

Flash forward two months to the last few days, and Harrell seems to be warming to a role change.
