Local home sales down, foreclosures up for the year
New home sales decreased 17.4% year to date with 194 sold so far this year compared to 235 in the same period last year. (Courtesy Memphis Media Company)
Although some areas are doing better than others, local home sales are down overall this year, especially with newer homes, while foreclosures are up sharply.
Sales in Shelby, DeSoto and Fayette counties are down 5% in April and 9.5% year to date, according to the latest Memphis Area Association of Realtors report.
The overall market reported 1,082 home sales in April compared to 1,139 in April 2025.
