Hasheem Thabeet’s time in Memphis didn’t exactly produce a storied Grizzlies career — but it may have produced a future basketball star.
Ethan Thabeet is a 7-foot, 15-year-old who was born in Memphis a year after Thabeet was drafted by the Grizzlies in 2009. Last week, he got his first official offer from a Division I program: UTSA.
“I think he plays a lot like his dad,” his mother, Mel Pillard, said. “I think he’s going to be a great defensive player and it’s just getting started. It’s in his DNA.”
