Collierville baseball coach change followed ‘comprehensive review of documented concerns’

Collierville High’s decision in June to not retain head baseball coach Jeff Munier came after a “comprehensive review of documented concerns,” according to school records, including ejections from games and lack of direction for some players, leading to distrust from families.
Collierville officials announced June 26 that Munier would not return to the suburban program. The decision came after Munier led the Dragons to a 37-12 record this past season and a spot in the Class 4A state baseball semifinals. Munier had 500 wins in his career as a head coach and spent the last 11 years with the Dragons.
“The decision was not made lightly. Coach Munier has dedicated more than 20 years of service to baseball in the Collierville community,” Collierville principal Roger Jones III wrote in the email to parents at the time. Jones added that the decision was “in the best interest of the long-term future of Collierville High Baseball.”
