Collierville fire chief retires and resigns

Collierville Fire Chief John Selberg has retired and resigned, effective immediately, the town confirmed Friday.
His retirement notice, submitted Thursday, Aug. 20, came 10 days after he was placed on administrative leave. His departure ends an issue that had divided Collierville over Town Administrator Molly Mehner’s attempt to get Selberg to leave, and the chief’s resistance to the demand.
Last Friday, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen met with their attorneys about a “personnel matter,” trying to work out an agreement with Selberg.
