Germantown buys new snowplows — but they won’t be ready for next winter

While sweltering summer temperatures scorch Shelby County, Germantown is preparing for what could happen in future winters.
Specifically snow. Or ice. Or any inclement, icy precipitation.
The suburb’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen bought one snowplow and one salt spreader Monday evening with a price tag of $84,000. However, they won’t be available for use until weather situations in late 2027 or early 2028. Andy Sanders, assistant city administrator, said the lead time is significant.
