Lakeland approves new plan for The Lake District after years of setbacks

Two Lakeland commissions approved economic impact and tax increment financing (TIF) plans for an area south of the Interstate 40 and Canada Road interchange during a special-called meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 9.

During the joint session with the Lakeland Industrial Development Board and the Board of Commissioners, the groups unanimously approved the TIF for the Lakeland Gateway South, providing a fresh start to the area after years of challenges and setbacks.
