New Bellevue pastor Ben Mandrell sees Memphis as mission, home

When Ben Mandrell stood before Bellevue Baptist Church last summer as its candidate for senior pastor, the moment carried the weight of both tradition and uncertainty.

At Bellevue, the congregation votes on its next pastor. After a search committee narrows the field to one person, that candidate preaches and the church decides.

“It was a little unnerving,” Mandrell said.
