Luciann’s future may allude to, not X out, building’s colorful past
Bill Townsend, owner of the old Luciann theater building, leads a tour on Friday, Nov. 20, 2020. The 80-year-old building was most recently used as an X-rated business. Townsend plans to renovate it for an antiques shop and eventually as an event space. (Mark Weber/The Daily Memphian)
The new owner is filling the place with antiques to open a shop. And instead of running from the building’s X-rated past, he may “lean into it.” But don’t worry, the idea involves whimsical branding, not adult entertainment.
