New Collierville mayor brings three decades of experience

Maureen Fraser isn’t a Collierville native, but rather a transplant who has invested nearly three decades in the suburb.

Now, at 61, she’s mayor of a place she never wants to leave. Her roots have grown deep in town.

She took her oath Wednesday evening, Dec. 18, alongside Alderman John Stamps, reelected in November, and Alderman Nick Robbins, who won last week’s runoff.

‘Not a one-person job': Stan Joyner chairs final meeting as Collierville mayor

Fraser succeeds Stan Joyner who spent the last 16 years as mayor.

“I’ve always called him my mayor because the aldermen, we have our responsibilities. When there is an event, people want to see the mayor,” she said.

Now those holding the events will call on Fraser, who has moved around the country before landing in Collierville, a move set in motion by the transfer of her husband’s job.
