A Collierville farm supply store is changing owners but keeping its roots

Russell’s Farm Supply Co. in Collierville sold to new owners last week, marking the end of a chapter for John Adams, who has owned the store about four decades.

Started in 1951 by James and Clarene Russell, the store has occupied its current space since 1977, after originally opening on Town Square. A fire the year earlier caused the closure of the space on the square, and it was rebuilt at 136 S. Center St., where it still stands today. Adams’ brother took over the business in 1977, and Adams joined as a partner in 1982. He and his wife owned it from 1986 until last week. Now, Wesley and Emily Tice, a couple in their early 30s, are taking over the business.
