Demolition of Carrefour at Kirby Woods moved up as last tenants plan to go

By , Daily Memphian Published: November 18, 2024 4:00 AM CT

All tenants at Carrefour at Kirby Woods are leaving the shopping center by the end of the year, and the structure holding memories of the past will soon be gone.

The existing buildings, except for the new one fronting Poplar, will be razed, giving site developers a blank canvas for redevelopment as The Standard Germantown. They hope to start demolition in early 2025.

“We were given the opportunity to work (with) some of the lease terms that were keeping us from moving forward faster with demolition of the entire property,” Adam Slovis, commercial real estate broker and developer, said.

For this Germantown designer, more is more

Most businesses in the center were on month-to-month leases, but all were told recently they must vacate their space by the end of the year.
