Germantown Municipal School District’s lone high school has many achievements, but the facilities are lacking and in need of updates, and the city has earmarked a scant amount for the upgrades.
In the 2026-27 budget, the city plans to give the district $8 million, and no other funds are shown in the suburban government’s six-year capital plan.
That projected amount is a long way from the $100 million the district is seeking for the project. The $8 million the city has earmarked “does not even scratch the surface of the needs we have at Houston High School,” according to Superintendent Jason Manuel.
