New T-ball field among big projects planned for Lakeland parks

The Lakeland Parks and Rec Department has a list of improvements in its lineups, from permanent lighting at the city’s athletic complex to a new T-ball field at City Hall Park.
Enhancements at the suburb’s recreation sites were part of the Thursday, Sept. 19, Lakeland Board of Commissioners meeting. Officials also received a major update to the Lakeland YMCA partnership.
“Exciting stuff,” Commissioner Michele Dial said of the new T-ball field. “The more resources we have for places for these kids to take part in sports, the better.”
The city is also working to design and plan a Scotts Creek Greenway that will run through the athletic complex and connect from Cool Springs Park to Memphis-Arlington Road.
