39 apply for 2 alderman openings in Collierville
Collierville has nearly 40 applicants to fill two open alderman positions following the resignation of Mayor Maureen Fraser and Billy Patton, a former alderman who ran against her in November, who were forced to step down from their alderman seats due to the town’s resign-to-run rule. Nearly 40 people have applied to fill a pair of Collierville alderman vacancies, according to applications released by the town.
The two positions are open because Mayor Maureen Fraser and Billy Patton, a former alderman who ran against her in November, were forced to step down from their alderman seats due to the town’s resign-to-run rule.
Now Fraser, Alderwoman Missy Marshall and Aldermen Nick Robbins and John Stamps must choose two other candidates to serve on the Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
Fraser and Patton’s resignations were effective Dec. 18, when the oaths of office were administered, and the town has 30 days to fill the position, according to the suburb’s charter.
