Sanford: Firing Feagins was unwise, but she shares the blame

Otis Sanford is a political columnist, author and professor emeritus in Journalism and Strategic Media at the University of Memphis.
The plan put together a year ago by the communications team at Memphis-Shelby County Schools to publicly introduce Marie Feagins as the district’s new superintendent was a good one.
Perhaps too good.
And it quite likely explains why the community is so upset that Feagins is no longer leading the school system.
